The focus of the work carried out by the Ministry of Environment and Energy is to create conditions for sustainable development – development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.

The main role of Croatian Hydrocarbon Agency is monitoring investors in terms of fulfillment of their contractual obligations in compliance with with the highest technological and environmental standards as well as conducting strict control over exploration and exploitation of hydrocarbons in the Republic of Croatia. Agency is responsible for defining exploration activities in accordance with the world best practices, for determining rules and conditions for exploration and exploitation of hydrocarbons and for providing operational support to competent bodies during licensing rounds.
CROATIAN GEOLOGICAL SURVEY
is the greatest public research institute in Croatia in the field of geosciences and geological engineering. Geological data is the foundation for development of different projects of the national concern, such as fresh water supply, soil and water conservation, traffic infrastructure development, urban planning, exploration of mineral resources and environmental protection. Investigation is carried out using the most recent methodologies, computer technologies and information.

Faculty of Mining, Geology and Petroleum Engineering is a higher educational institution within the University of Zagreb. AATG seeks to commercialize a new variant of geothermal energy with technology that fully utilizes the energy potential of hot brines. In contrast to conventional geothermal power plants CLEAG’s hybrid system uses two sources for its energy production: hot water as well as the combustible gases dissolved in it. The gases are separated from the water and burned in a gas engine. The CO2 from combustion, as well as any brought up with the hot water, is captured at a rate of 98% and safely re-injected into the aquifer, where it stays.
